NewbyMom.com is THE connection center for moms. This online publication was started by seven professional moms in May, 2010 and has gotten off to a tremendous start.  You may have heard the expression, “It takes a village to raise a child,” NewbyMom.com is a virtual village. The NewbyMom team creates this village by compiling resources like doctors, childcare and school reviews to create a community online and simplify moms lives.

For instance, it’s tough for moms in new communities to find the right doctor. Right now in Charleston, SC moms who have just moved to the area can go online and find reviews by veteran moms on the best doctors, childcare facilities and schools in the Lowcountry and they’re searchable by zip-code.

On top of this, we also have a community forum where moms can chat about their daily struggles or funny anecdotes and a marketplace where moms can post their child’s gently used clothing for sale. We even have a shopping mall of mom-made, mom-approved products.

Besides simplifying moms lives through community resources, we want to inspire mothers to reach their personal goals while remaining energetic and engaged parents. We do this by writing stories on life, health, fitness, beauty and community.

What sets our company apart from other baby and parenting publications is we’re 100 percent owned and managed by seven professional moms. Who better knows the needs of mothers, then those experiencing their joys and frustrations everyday.

Research:

Based on a 2009 eMarketer survey, 34.7 million moms over 18 will be online in the year 2010. By 2013, this figure is expected to reach 36.1 million. According to a study conducted on Razorfish and CafeMom, 49 percent of moms 18-64 are going online to research products, 45 percent are shopping for their children and 44 percent are shopping for themselves. So, the top three reasons moms go online will now be in one place: NewbyMom.com.

Of the mothers researching products, 31 percent were searching for recipes, 26 percent for baby/parenting advice and 18 percent were trying to find information on fitness and health.

Based on internet research conducted by Quantcast.com, Baby Center, one of the largest Mom sites, has an average of 81,000 South Carolinians visiting their site every month. The tri- county represents 14.4 percent of the state’s population, so based on Baby Center’s average and the tri- county percent of the population, NewbyMom can expect to see 11,664 visits to the site each month. As NewbyMom.com spreads geographically these numbers will continue to expand.
